Job Description
Seeking candidates for private & group teaching from Sept 2010-June 2011.
Keeping in mind the theme of “music for life” you must be open to the concept of providing students with skills beyond technique and performance. Ear-training, improvisation, composition, theory are just some of the activities that we expect will be covered in the course of the year.
Our teachers are:
-well-rounded musicians
-comfortable with a wide range of styles of music (classical, pop, jazz, etc…)
-excellent listeners & communicators
-dedicated to their students (preparation & planning takes place outside of the lesson)
-committed to sharing in the learning process
Instruments currently offered are: piano/keyboard, guitar, voice.
We have a diverse faculty of experienced teachers which you can consult, observe, and learn from.
Depending on your performance, opportunities for advancement and training are available.
This position is independent contract and requires a firm commitment to one of the time periods listed above. Time commitment is 1 day/week to start, with the option for growth. Scheduling is flexible.
Requirements
-diploma, degree or conservatory certification preferred
-must be comfortable with various styles of piano repertoire (classical, pop, jazz)
-experience teaching or working with children an asset
-ability to sing, improvise, compose an asset
Additional Information
Lessons are offered during weekday afternoon/evenings and Saturday morning/afternoons. Students are scheduled according to your availability.
