Welcome to Ms. Karin Asselstine, who joins us having just relocated from Giovanni Yamaha School of Music in Edmonton, Alberta!

Karin AsselstineKarin has been sharing her love of music with students for 5 years as a private voice instructor and group class teacher. In fact, many of her students have received top marks in RCM exams and festivals, with several students successfully auditioning for undergraduate programs across Canada.

With companies such as Raymond Playhouse Theatre, Lethbridge Musical Theatre, University of Lethbridge Opera, and Alberta College, Karin has performed across the Alberta, the western United States, and Mexico as a solo performer and collaborator in various productions in Opera, Musical theatre, and chamber performances.

Karin received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Lethbridge under Patrice Jegou and has also trained with Kim Mattice Wanat. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Voice in Performance and Literature at UWO.

Karin will help us launch Tunes for Twos this year, in addition to teaching Music Wonderland and JMC group classes, and voice lessons. We are very excited to welcome Ms. Karin to our school!

Campers at this year’s Yamaha Superstar Camp got to exercise their creative, physical, musical — and acting skills!

Miss Ali returned from England to serve as head counsellor for yet another year. She was joined by Mr. Andrew, Mr. Jordan, Miss Naomi and volunteer counsellors Tim and Kiyoaki.

One of the highlights of this year’s camp was the production of an original film entitled “The Three Piggy Brothers”. Campers debuted their film at a special premiere attended by an appreciative audience of friends and family. We even had popcorn!

Earlier on in the first week, campers made marionettes and improvised skits with them.

Check back soon for more photos and video, including footage of our outdoor concert and a special tribute to Michael Jackson!
